LOI Inc. (Pittsburgh, Pa.) successfully installed its Adapt Hot Skid System at Cascade Steel (McMinnville, Ore.). Cascade Steel chose the Adapt Hot Skid System because it has the ability to reduce both the thermal skid mark in the billets and the water consumption when compared to the existing skid system. LOI’s patented “double offset” was incorporated into the skids to ensure the reduction in the thermal skid mark met Cascade Steel’s expectations.

In addition, the heat loss to the water was greatly reduced, resulting in more heat going into the billets and less into the cooling water. This resulted in a reduction in MMBTU/ton when compared to the existing skid system.
