Recrystalized silicon carbide (ReSiC) kiln furniture offers a number of advantages over cordierite. ReSiC can be operated up to 2900°F and is better able to withstand thermal shock because of its higher thermal conductivity and strength at temperature. This minimizes cracking and provides longer life. ReSiC is also stronger – with more weight-bearing capacity – and can be smaller, which frees space inside the kiln.
