Consolidated Engineering Company (CEC) has been contracted to build and install a roller-hearth normalizing furnace for Union Tank Car Company, which plans to incorporate heat treatment to its in-house manufacturing operations in Sheldon, Texas. The furnace will be designed to operate at 1700°F. Special cast-alloy rolls will be utilized to convey products up to 150 inches wide through the furnace.
According to Union Tank Car Company, having normalizing heat-treatment capabilities at its Sheldon Plant will allow it to increase its production of pressurized cars.
