Guild International has selected SECO/WARWICK Corp. (Meadville, Pa.) to manufacture a gas-fired strip-weld annealing furnace. The furnace will perform a flame-impingement heat treatment within a steel coil joining system for a continuous-production pickling line to be installed later this year in China. A companion unit to the Guild MES ZIPWELDER™, the Weld-Annealer will be used to heat the weld zone of the two strip ends.

The unit consists of the main frame, a two-piece insulated heat chamber, combustion system and control panel. The heating-chamber sections are positioned above and below the weld area of the steel strip, and they are raised and lowered by pneumatic cylinders so that the burners are close to the strip for annealing and farther away for “line-run” condition.
