Arcelor Mittal Group recently produced the first coil on its new hot rolling mill in Cracow, Poland. Supplied by Siemens Metals Technologies, the new mill will have an annual production capacity of 2.4 million metric tons.
Siemens’ technological scope of supply included a reheat furnace, reversing quarto roughing stand with hydraulic upsetting devices and an “Encopanel” insulating tunnel. A laminar cooling section, with easily switchable “SmartCoolers” in the fine-tuning zone, enables precise control of the cooling process – an essential prerequisite for manufacturing special grades of steel.
