French special long steel products producer ASCOMETAL, a member of Severstal group, has awarded a contract to Linde for REBOX® oxyfuel solutions in reheating. Four pit furnaces at ASCOMETAL’s Les Dunes’ facility will be converted into full oxyfuel operation in 2007-2008 to boost the rolling mill capacity and reduce fuel consumption while also reducing emissions of CO2 and NOx.
According to ASCOMETAL, previously installed REBOX® oxyfuel solutions at its Fos-sur-Mer plant resulted in 33% shorter heating time and 40% lower fuel consumption with reduced emissions. Since 1990, Linde has installed REBOX® oxyfuel solutions in over 100 reheat furnaces within rolling mills, forge shops and annealing lines.
