CORE to Supply Materials Handling System
Core Furnace Systems (CORE) has been awarded a contract to design and supply a meltshop materials handling system at Steel Dynamics’ Columbia City, Ind., facility. The project’s main features include a new flux charge bucket additive system at the EAF as well as the relocation and upgrade of an existing LMF alloy material handling system. Start-up is anticipated to begin in the fall of 2007.
All systems will be designed and optimized to efficiently feed the meltshop process equipment. Components of the material handling system include conveyors, storage silos, bins, vibratory feeders and unloading stations. CORE (Pittsburgh, Pa.) will also design and supply a process control and automation system that will interface with an existing system.
