Solar Atmospheres Adds Third 24-Foot Vacuum Furnace
Solar Atmospheres (Hermitage, Pa.) took chamber delivery of its third 24-foot, 75,000-pound-capacity vacuum furnace. The furnace, being constructed on-site by Solar Manufacturing, has a planned spring 2007 start-up. All three 24-foot furnaces have been built to meet the growing demand from titanium producers. Up to 75,000 pounds of primary/secondary titanium and other metals are annealed or degassed in a single run. Large titanium parts or loads are solution annealed and aged. Solar Atmospheres plans on having a 36-foot, 150,000-pound-capacity furnace operational in 2008.
