B&W Heat Treating, Can-Eng Commission Heat-Treating System
B&W Heat Treating Canada ULC (Kitchener, Ontario) announced the commissioning of a Basketless Heat Treating System (BHTS) by Can-Eng Furnaces Ltd., Global Furnace Systems Group (Niagara Falls, N.Y.). This system has been installed to process precision aluminum sand-cast engine blocks for the North American marketplace. The BHTS reduces energy consumption and floor-space requirements when compared to conventional roller-hearth aluminum heat-treatment systems. The BHTS incorporates a unique material handling system that provides for single piece product flow. As a result, this lean manufacturing concept transfers castings through the system without the use of baskets, carriers or trays.

B&W Heat Treating, wholly owned subsidiary of Bluewater Thermal Processing, is Canada’s largest commercial heat treater. A leader in aluminum processing, B&W’s capabilities include processing high-volume production components such as engine blocks, cylinder heads, suspension members and steering brackets. Can-Eng is a leading North American designer and manufacturer of industrial heat-treat equipment.
