Solar Receives Order for Vacuum Furnace
Solar Manufacturing (Souderton, Pa.) has sold a vacuum furnace to a major jet engine sealing systems manufacturer in New England. The furnace has a maximum operating temperature of 2500°F with a work zone measuring 36 inches wide x 36 inches high x 48 inches deep and a load capacity of 3,500 pounds. Shipment is scheduled for June 2007.

The furnace features a high-efficiency graphite-insulated hot zone consisting of four layers of ½-inch-thick graphite felt with a hot face of FlexShield. The vacuum pumping system includes a diffusion pump for high-vacuum applications to 10-6 Torr. Also included is the SolarVac 3000, an interactive control system that enables the furnace operator to monitor, control and graphically view information for total furnace control. An external gas quench system will consist of a 50-horsepower motor and a Robinson radial fan wheel and diffuser.
