Allegheny Technologies Inc.'s Board of Directors has approved expansion of the company's Washington, Pa., titanium and specialty plate facility. The project includes increasing the reheat furnace, annealing and flattening capacity at ATI's existing plate mill. ATI expects the investment to be approximately $60 million with completion planned for the second quarter of 2008.
ATI's plate size capabilities will be expanded, and significant productivity improvements are being made. The project is intended to help ATI meet growing demand from the aerospace and defense, chemical process industry, oil and gas, and electrical energy markets.
