Bhushan Steel and Strips Ltd. (New Delhi, India) awarded a contract to SMS Demag (Germany) to supply a single-strand slab caster for the production of 1,300-mm-wide slabs. SMS Demag’s scope of supply for the new continuous casting machine covers plant, process and automation technology. This includes the mold with resonance oscillation and the entire strand-guide system. The new plant is scheduled to be commissioned in fall 2008.
The spectrum of supplies and services also includes the mechanical, electrical and automation systems as well as the supervision of erection and commissioning. This project follows Bhushan’s previous order with SMS Demag in April 2005 for a single-strand slab caster and a Conarc® steelworks.
