BOC-TISCO, the joint venture between BOC and Taiyuan Iron and Steel Corporation (TISCO), is supplying gases from an air separation unit at TISCO's stainless steel plant in China's Shanxi province. BOC-TISCO's new 1,400 metric ton-per-day air separation unit, which came on-stream in July 2006, is supplying liquid and gaseous oxygen to enable the steel plant's phased expansion from 900,000 metric tons per year to 3 million metric tons per year.

Following the completion of a second oxygen plant, which is currently being installed, the site will become the largest stainless steel producer in China and one of the largest in the world. Total steel output for TISCO was 5.39 million metric tons in 2005 and will rise to 8 million metric tons per year following the project's completion.

BOC is a member of the Linde Group, a world-leading industrial gases and engineering company.
