A bright annealing line for stainless steel designed by Techint Technologies (Italy) has been inaugurated at TK-Mexinox, a ThyssenKrupp stainless-steel plant in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. The line processes 70,000 metric tons per year of strip .25 to 1.30 millimeters thick and 800 to 1,350 millimeters wide. Bright annealing is a heat-treating process conducted in a controlled atmosphere furnace or vacuum to minimize oxidation so that the product surface remains clean. It is particularly common for continuous annealing of strip products and stainless steels.

Techint also supplied a new Ebner muffle-type annealing furnace, which was installed in a 62-meter-high tower, and a level-3 automation and control system. According to Techint, the project was completed in 18 months.
