Mittal Steel USA has begun the sale of steel for export beginning this quarter to take advantage of the strength of the global market and the resources of Arcelor Mittal International, the company’s global trading arm. Sales are initially targeted at 200,000 tons during the second quarter from several of the company’s Eastern and Midwestern U.S. plants. Mittal Steel USA, with its affiliates, is the largest steel producer in North America and the largest integrated steel producer in the U.S. Arcelor Mittal is the world’s number one steel company, with 330,000 employees in more than 60 countries.
