Solar Manufacturing (Souderton, Pa.)has received a contract to build up to four large vacuum brazing furnaces for an HVAC component manufacturer in the United States. The first two furnaces are set for delivery in the spring of 2007 with the second two furnaces to be released as scheduled by the customer. Each of the Model HFL-7472-2EQ's high-vacuum pumping systems will include 20-inch Varian diffusion pumps to allow the furnaces to operate in the high vacuum range.
The furnaces will also feature a high-efficiency, graphite-insulated hot zone consisting of 2-inch-thick high-grade graphite felt with a hot face of FlexShield. The maximum operating temperature will be 2500°F with a workload capacity of 5,000 pounds. The 2-bar external gas quench system consists of a 150-horsepower motor, a Robinson radial fan wheel, diffuser and a variable speed drive to allow control of the quench.
