Can-Eng Furnaces Ltd., Global Furnace System Group (Niagara Falls, N.Y.; http://www.can-eng.com), received a contract to supply a large gas-hearth tempering furnace line for automotive glass to Nippon Furnace Kogyo (NFK, Yokohama Japan). The equipment consists of multiple zones of controlled heating to approximately 1300ºF utilizing a pressurized air flotation system and ceramic bed to control the glass contour. The furnace line is part of a major expansion program at an automotive glass-making facility in the Southeastern U.S. Can-Eng and NFK have co-operated on projects for over 20 years on a wide range of industrial furnace applications including steel, aluminum, and glass. The equipment will be operational by Summer 2006.
