SECO/WARWICK Ltd. (Swiebodzin, Poland;http://www.secowarwick.pl) has received a contract for the delivery of two new age furnaces and one new age/anneal furnace to process loads of aluminum plate for aerospace applications for an aluminum plant in Russia. The SECO/WARWICK furnaces produce tight uniformity by utilizing reversing airflow to eliminate the formation of a "hot side" and a "cold side" on the load. By automatically reversing the airflow at regular intervals, the entire load is brought up to temperature at a more uniform rate. Thus, the amount of temperature spread within the load is reduced, and the resulting metallurgical properties are more uniform. The electric heating system for the furnace is divided into six equal zones of PID temperature control. Each zone will incorporate SECO/WARWICK bayonet resistance heating elements. SECO/WARWICK will provide equipment including the furnaces, loading machine, load stacking tables, and load trays. Installation is scheduled for fall 2006.
