Surface Combustion Receives Furnace Contract
Surface Combustion Inc., Maumee, Ohio, received an order for a Super Allcase(r) batch integral quench furnace line with companion equipment from ReedHycalog, located in Houston, Tex. The new equipment will be shipped to its Singapore plant. ReedHycalog specializes in roller cone, PDC (polycrystalline diamond compact) and natural diamond drill bits. The furnace line will consist of four Allcase(r) furnaces, gas-fired with polymer quench; three Uni-DRAW(r) temper furnaces; two RX(r) endothermic gas generators with water-cooled heat exchanger; one spray/dunk companion washer; and a wide array of companion equipment including a charge car and multiple work handling tables. Controls for the furnace equipment include HTM(tm) (Heat Treat Management), TAL(tm) (Trend Alarm Log) software and a GPS(r) (Gas Process System). The furnace line will process effective work sizes up to 36 in. wide by 72 in. long by 36 in. high and will have a maximum furnace operating temperature of 1800F.
