Series 625 alloy hooks made of Inconel 625 are said to provide up to 20 times the life of carbon steel hooks in high corrosive HCl-base wire-coil pickling baths. The hooks eliminate the progressive generation of wire-staining corrosion residue, which can travel along a typically corroded grooved carbon-steel hook and drip on the cleaned product. To maximize strength and minimize material usage, the hooks are fabricated by welding together sections to form an I beam-like cross section rather than being cut from constant-thickness plate.
