Stackpole Automotive Gear Division, a powder metallurgy gear manufacturer in Toronto, Canada, placed an order for ALD's ModulTherm(r) vacuum furnace. The six-chamber furnace will allow Stackpole to expand its vacuum carburizing capability and further improve the precision of its gears using the 20-bar helium-gas quench. The ModulTherm(r) furnace can run different vacuum heat-treating processes at the same time (vacuum carburizing, neutral hardening, brazing, de-oiling, annealing and tempering) and has various quenching capabilities (oil, nitrogen and hydrogen). It offers modularization, convective heating and fast gas cooling.
