Charter Steel, Saukville, WI, has awarded a contract to ITAM-Salem, a unit of Techint Technologies Inc., Pittsburgh, PA, for three 28 metric tons per charge Short Term Cycle (STC) furnaces to be installed at the company's new processing plant near Fostoria, OH, for annealing wire and rod coil. In addition to wire and rod coils, the furnaces can also process bar stock, pipe, tube, and parts for cold forgings. The furnaces are also capable of spheroidizing, normalizing, stress relieving, bright annealing, and full annealing. They can provide up to 100% spheroidization, zero decarb, and zero reprocessing.
