Home » Core Furnace Systems Awarded Subcontract for Walking Hearth Furnace
Ajax TOCCO Magnethermic selected Core Furnace Systems, Pittsburgh, Pa., as a subcontractor for the design, supply and installation of an electrically heated walking hearth holding furnace. The furnace will be installed in the continuous rolling mill at Timken--Latrobe. The furnace will use electrical resistance elements to maintain the temperature of hot alloy steel billets in an inert nitrogen atmosphere. The hot billets will be received from the connected Ajax TOCCO Magnethermic induction line. The furnace also will include in-furnace charge and discharge rolls, as well as a Level I control system designed and supplied by Core. Start-up is scheduled for 2004.
