ISG, Burns Harbor, Ind., placed an order with LOI Inc., Pittsburgh, Pa., for the design and supply of the equipment necessary to implement the quality improvements planned for three reheat furnaces located at its 80 in. hot strip mill. The improvements are directly related to the quality of heating and handling of hot slabs. The scope of work consists of an upgrade to the soak zone combustion system, the addition of three slab extractors and modification of the discharge roll tables. The first equipment is scheduled for delivery late in 2004. The second and third equipment deliveries are scheduled for Spring 2005 and Fall 2005.
