A new method has been developed for rebuilding hydrogen atmosphere sintering furnaces that operate at 2500 F (1370 C) using precast refractory shapes. This application uses bubble cast aluminum shapes custom made for each application. Silica bricks breakdown in hydrogen, creating certain forms of silica to which exposure must be controlled, and creates furnace structure problems. With this new system, these problems are eliminated, along with the traditional cutting of brick.
