The Convective Heat Flow (CHF) temperature measurement system measures the temperature of synthetic fibers, optical fibers, wire, webs, film, and sheets during processing. The system utilizes dual matched heat flow sensors of the same sensitivity operating at two different known temperatures. The signals from the two heat flow sensors take readings which result from the conductive/convective heat flow rates between the sensors and the material which are directly proportional to the temperature differences be-tween the two. The sensor readings are then applied to a proportional-integral-derivative (PID) algorithm.
