CompAS Controls Wins Advanced Technology Project Award

CompAS Controls Inc., Indiana, PA, a high-tech internet based thermal process management systems company, has been awarded a competitive grant in partnership with a research consortium that includes Honeywell, Penn State University, Ingersoll Rand, CM Furnaces and Polymer Technologies for developing a knowledge management system for state-of-the-art metal injection molding (MIM) manufacturing processes. The company's share of this $2.8 million dollar award is approximately $110 thousand. The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) extends this type of Advanced Technology Project Award based on a national competition to enable cutting edge technology to be brought to commercial use. The company's system is already being used by several powder metal parts manufacturing companies in Western Pennsylvania. This award will enable them to extend their technology to the growing MIM industry.
