The modular "single shot" coil assembly consists of a mounting block, coil and quench assembly. The mounting block attaches to the transformer output or spreader bus, and the inductor mounts in a keyed slot to maintain accurate location. The quench assembly is attached to the mounting block and has removable face plates on all quench surfaces. All components attach to the mounting block, saving wear and tear on the output transformer. Single shot coils used for hardening wheel spindles, yokes, front wheel drive components and shafts up to 20" long have been processed using this assembly.
