SMS Demag AG (Dusseldorf, Germany) received a contract from TISCO Taiyuan Iron & Steel (Group) Co. Ltd. in China to engineer and supply a complete hot strip mill valued at US$100 million.
SMS Demag AG (Dusseldorf, Germany; www.sms-demag.com), the leader of an international consortium, received a contract from TISCO Taiyuan Iron & Steel (Group) Co. Ltd. in China to engineer and supply a complete hot strip mill valued at US$100 million. Toshiba Mitsubishi Electric Industrial Systems Corp. (Japan) will supply electric equipment and automation systems. The rolling mill will be set up in Taiyuan in the province of Shanxi. TISCO will produce 1.2 to 25.4 mm thick by 1,000 to 2,100 mm wide carbon steel strip and 2 to 20 mm thick by 1,000 to 2,100 mm wide stainless steel strip, with the first coil scheduled to be manufactured in 2006.
