PAM-CAST 2002 casting simulation offers high-pressure die casting capabilities, a new interface with thermomechanical coupling, and en-hanced data exchange using CAD. It simulates a wide range of processes including gravity die casting, low-pressure die casting, semisolid and lost-foam processes. Definition of the mold cycling sequence as well as cooling and heating devices are now automatically generated by the user interface, allowing faster preprocessing times. New features have been introduced in the solvers to simulate the piston displacement during the first phase of injection and its influence on the casting porosity during the third phase. A new particle tracing option facilitates the visualization and understanding of high speed and complex metal flows.
