The Timken Co., Canton, Ohio, is exploring strategic alternatives for its standard plant in Torrington, Conn., including the sale of the facility. The plant, which makes products for the aerospace industry (aircraft control bearings, rod ends and track rollers), employs 277 persons. Timken wants its plants to be globally competitive in the product that each manufactures and to integrate its acquisition of The Torrington Co. As part of its strategy, Timken is reviewing all of its businesses. Timken will continue to serve its customers and ensure continuity of supply as it explores options for the plant.
