Bodycote Diamond Black, Inc., Conover, NC, has teamed with the MIT Rocket Team in providing the patented Diamond BlackR coating on 7075 T6 aluminum disks and retainers for use in a liquid fueled rocket propulsion system. The thin film ceramic coating is a hard boron carbide alloy coating applied by a low temperature deposition process, leaving a micro thin coating without alteration to heat-treated tools or warpage of precision tools.
