Core Furnace Systems (Pittsburgh, Pa.; http://www.corefurnace.com) received a contract from Charter Steel to provide the turn-key supply of four STC (Short Time Cycle) furnaces at its coil processing and distribution facility in Rising Sun, Ohio. The installation will bring the number of STC furnaces to eight on this site, and installation is expected to be complete by December 2005. The 28 metric ton batch STC furnaces, complete with endothermic gas generators, will be used for spherodizing and lamellar pearlitic annealing of coiled rod and wire. Core also will design and supply the complete control and automation package that will feature a Level 1 and Level 2 control system. The energy efficient STC furnaces will provide low product variability and superior temperature uniformity.
