The Penn State Center for Innovative Sintered Products (CISP), University Park, PA, has started operations under the direction of Randall M. German, Brush Chair Professor in Materials. The College of Engineering is spearheading the new activity focused on sintered materials and devices. To start the effort, CISP has absorbed the P/M Lab and its 17,000 square foot experimental facility and combined that with 35 faculty participants across campus. Besides 15 initial research projects, CISP is conducting sponsored research on topics including liquid phase sintering, powder injection molding, rapid tooling, and porous metals.
