Bharat Forge acquires U.S. forging company in all cash deal
Bharat Forge Ltd. (BFL), located in Mumbai, India acquired US-based Federal Forge Inc. (Lansing, Mich.), for US$9 million. Federal Forge manufactures a variety of forged automotive components such as control arms, links, steering knuckles and connecting rods. Bharat Forge Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. B. N. Kalyani said that the Federal Forge acquisition is a significant step towards implementing Bharat Forge's strategy of expanding global footprint and establishing a manufacturing presence in one of company's largest markets - the USA. The acquisition provides a strong foothold in the passenger car and light truck market as the manufacturing base close to some of its largest customers. With manufacturing facilities in India and Germany, Bharat Forge Ltd. is said to be the largest manufacturer and exporter of automotive engine and suspension components. It has the world's largest single location forging capacity and is the 2nd largest and most technologically advanced commercial forge shops in the world.
