Toyota Expanding in Canada
(PRNewswire) -- Toyota will invest about C$800 million/US$650 million in the construction of a new assembly plant in Ontario, Canada, to build about 100,000 RAV4 sport utility vehicles annually. The plant will open in 2008 and employ about 1,300. Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Canada, Inc. (TMMC) in nearby Cambridge, Ontario, will manage the plant. This will be Toyota's second Canadian assembly plant, and is said to be the first green field automotive assembly facility in Canada in almost 20 years. Toyota also announced an expansion of Canadian Autoparts Toyota, Inc. (CAPTIN) in Delta, British Columbia. The C$39.0 million/US$31.6 million expansion will increase annual wheel production capacity by nearly 17 percent, starting in July 2007.
