Improvements in Domestic Industrial Heating Equipment Sales
Total domestic and foreign orders for industrial heating equipment, as reported by 15 members of the Industrial Heating Equipment Association (IHEA), for the first quarter of 2005, were $60.84 million. Comparing orders received and reported by the same companies for both years, there was an increase of 15.3% from the first quarter of 2004. North American orders for all industrial heating equipment for the first quarter of 2005 were reported at $51.5 million. For companies that reported in both years, there was an increase of 14.0% from orders reported in the same quarter of 2004. Foreign orders for the first quarter were $9.4 million. The comparison of same company reports for foreign orders showed an increase of 23.7% from the first quarter of 2004. Domestic industrial furnace and oven orders only for the first quarter of 2005 totaled $17.07 million, an increase of 41.0% from the same quarter in 2004. Other domestic equipment orders, including process control systems, industrial combustion equipment, replacement parts and other types of equipment totaled $34.40 million for the first quarter of 2005, a 20.3% decrease for the same reporting companies from the same quarter in 2004.
