SECO/WARWICK (Swiebodzin, Poland; http://www.secowarwick.pl), together with Alcoa SMP specialists, commissioned four aluminum coil annealing furnaces and charge/transfer car at the Alcoa SMP plant in Samara, Russia. Each tray type coil-annealing furnace is rated for a 105,000 kg (231,500 lb) load with a maximum operating temperature of 650ºC (1200ºF). The furnaces use a mass flow heating design to eliminate the potential problems of local overheating and physical damage of the thin gage foil caused by a high-velocity horizontal airflow. Each furnace is equipped with a by-pass cooler connected to the back wall of the furnace to cool coils in a protective nitrogen atmosphere to protect the coils from air infiltration. The system includes one driven charging/transfer car to service all the furnaces.
