The high-temperature platinum element thermocouples are suitable for temperatures in excess of 3000 F (5430 C). Various protection designs include the use of ceramic, metal, ceramic metal and refractory materials. Two typical designs include the use of a primary tube for protection or the platinum element together with a secondary protection tube to prevent thermal shock or contamination. The thermocouples with protection tubes are mounted with fixed fitting or flanges designed for the application. Multiple termination options are provided, based on specific wiring requirements. Termination options include high-temperature ceramic plus, aluminum or cast iron screen cover heads, or explosion-proof heads with specific NEMA requirements.
