Rolls Royce Orders Two Nitriding Furnaces
Rolls Royce of Indiana awarded Nitrex Metal in Canada a contract for the replacement of two obsolete nitriding furnaces, following the successful development of a nitriding process that met case specifications without the formation of white layer on aerospace components. The new Nitrex furnaces are equipped with control systems that use the Nitreg(r) technology for nitriding at very tight tolerances. With the installation of these furnaces, Rolls Royce will be able to save costs by eliminating operations presently needed after traditional nitriding to remove the white layer. The contract also covers the supply of a neutralizing system for eliminating effluent gases. The Nitrex nitriding systems, both models NX-609, are scheduled for installation this month.
