Kolene Corporation
The KoleneR KastechR Elec-trolyticR salt bath cleaning process is capable of removing burned-in sand, scale, oxides, and graphite from both the surface and internal passages of intricate castings. Work is submerged in a salt bath heated from 800 to 950¯F (427 to 510¯C), and a negative charge is applied to the work. The chemical reduction cycle is followed by a chemical oxidation cycle that requires a positive charge to be applied to the workload and creates metallurgical voids to improve bonding during subsequent operations. A final reduction cycle removes the light "bath oxide" from the surface of the castings.
