Olson Industries (Heidelberg, Pa.) will supply a new high-temperature car-bottom forging furnace for a large roll manufacturer in southwest Pennsylvania. The furnace will be equipped with high-efficiency regenerative (self-recuperated) burners to reduce fuel consumption. The furnace will be automated and tied into an existing plant-wide computer control system provided by Olson. The car-bottom design will handle large forgings weighing over 300,000 lbs. Olson expects the furnace to be installed and commissioned in December 2005.
