LOI Thermprocess GmbH (Essen, Germany; http://www.loi.de) has been contracted by Wieland Werke AG to supply an HPH bell-type annealing plant for heat-treating nonferrous metal strips at the Vöhringen facility. The Wieland Group is a leading manufacturer of semi-finished goods and special products made from copper and copper alloys. The new plant, which will be used for the bright annealing of rolled strip and thin strips in sleeves, consists of two annealing bases, one heating hood and one spray cooling hood. The plant and the safety, annealing and control technology used are tailored to the client's individual requirements. Advanced Siemens S7-400 PLCs and a visualization system based on WinCC are included in the scope of supplies under the contract. All open-loop and closed-loop control systems will be linked to a higher-level computer system. Production of the new plant is scheduled to start in November 2005.
