The Cleveland Works of Alcoa Wheel and Forged Products, a division of Alcoa Inc., purchased a new aluminum billet reheat furnace from Seco/Warwick Corp., Meadville, Pa. The furnace will heat up to 6,000 pounds per hour of various sizes of aluminum billet and slabs. The load will be supported and transferred through the furnace by a motor-powered conveyor system, and convection heating will use high-pressure, large-volume centrifugal fans, which will direct air through properly positioned jets, to achieve the heating rate and uniformity specified by Alcoa. The furnace will be manufactured, assembled and tested by Seco/Warwick prior to shipment.
