Furnaces using laminar gas flow ensure very close temperature uniformity for many processes such as annealing, brazing, stress relieving, debinding and sintering of PM/MIM parts. Turbulent gas flow (760 torr) creates uneven flow and shadow effect on parts. Laminar flow (300 torr) proceeds smoothly and evenly over surface irregularities creating even flow and no shadow effect. Molecular flow (100 mtorr) is unpredictable and escapes to cold walls creating random flow and contamination from binder material. (www.elnik.com)
