Leybold Inficon, E. Syracuse, NY, became a new company under the name INFICON on July 1, 2000. The new company, headquartered in Syracuse, is created from the merger of Balzers Instruments (Liechtenstein), the instrumentation business of Leybold (Germany), and Leybold Inficon (USA). The formation marks the completion of the instrumentation business merger between Balzers and Leybold that began in 1996. All product lines, along with research and development, have been consolidated and streamlined at INFICON's three primary locations.
