The Metal Powder Industries Federation (MPIF), Princeton, N.J., opened the 2002 International P/M Design Competition, which recognizes outstanding achievements in the commercial production of components made from metal powder by the powder metallurgy (P/M) process. Entries in each category (ferrous, nonferrous, stainless steel, injection molded, advanced particulate materials and overseas) are eligible for a grand prize and two awards of distinction. P/M parts manufacturers from North America and overseas who are MPIF members, and their customers, may submit entries. Judging guidelines are based on design configuration, engineering properties and promotional value to the P/M industry. Entries must be received no later than February 8, 2002.
