The Oxyfire sensor measures oxygen in fossil fuel-fired environments including steel and glassmaking, power generation, petrochemical and petroleum refining, as well as in kilns and incinerator applications. Unlike heated or extractive analyzers, the sensor is installed in the combustion chamber, closest to the actual source of combustion. The sensor works by measuring the net concentration of oxygen in a process; i.e., the amount of oxygen that remains after combustion is completed. At its core is a platinum-coated zirconia cell that measures the emf potential (in millivolts) generated by the diffusion of oxygen ions across the cell wall.
