Model RSSA-8 shot-peening system has controls for shot peening of aircraft and automotive components. Rotation or radial indexing is synchronized with the motion of the automatic machine's multiple-axis nozzle manipulator, enabling programmed, accurate and repeatable processing of a variety of components that will be shot peened to similar specifications. The shot reclamation and media delivery elements of the system are adapted to control the shot-peening process. Consistent particle sizing is maintained by screen classification of 100% of the shot, and an electronic flow monitor is looped to automatically meter the flow of shot at the pre-set rate. Sensors monitor process parameters such as air supply pressure, shot level or reclaim airflow, and a fault is indicated when out-of-limit conditions are detected.
