Techint Technologies, Pittsburgh, Pa., acquired EMC International (EMCI) Inc. from Midrex Enterprises Inc. EMCI will now be an integral part of Techint's melt shop business unit, adding to its range of steelmaking process and marketing capabilities. Jim Simmons, president of EMCI, joins Techint as senior vice president of the melt shop business unit. In addition, the EMCI team joined Techint's melt shop group in Pittsburgh, effective November 1, 2001.
